About Hypnosis

What is hypnosis and is it completely natural?

Hypnosis is a very natural state of focus and deep relaxation. It is like guided meditation or even daydreaming. Everyone enters hypnosis at least twice a day, when we’re waking up in the morning and falling asleep at night – that point where we are half asleep, is the same as hypnosis. It is a completely natural, normal state of mind.  Many people are unaware that they are in a state of hypnosis more frequently than they would expect. For example, when you watch TV and forget everything happening around you, that is hypnosis. When you read a book and get to the bottom of the page, forgetting everything you just read, that is hypnosis.  When you drive to work, and forget that you are driving, and end up at your destination, yet you don't remember the entire journey, that is hypnosis.

What does it feel like to be hypnotised?

Hypnosis feels like deep relaxation with a focus of attention. You might think you are daydreaming, you might remain focused, with your entire attention on my voice. People who are less informed about hypnosis can leave a hypnotherapy session believing they were not hypnotised, because they did not black out and they did not forget everything that happened.  As a rule, most people are always aware of what happens during hypnosis and most people will remember most of what happened during their session. Hypnosis is not a state of amnesia, nor is it a state of unconsciousness, it is actually the opposite.  You may have seen people hypnotised on stages, doing silly things, this is not hypnotherapy, as hypnotised subjects do not give up control when they are hypnotised.

How do I choose a Hypnotherapist?

If you meet a hypnotherapist for a consultation and you feel uncomfortable, you need to find someone new who will work better for you as an individual.  You are in charge, you need to feel a connection of sorts, and you deserve to have the best person for you.
